New Delhi: Indian Navy warship INS Trishul concluded its port call at Civitavecchia, Italy, on October 28 as part of its ongoing operational deployment in the Mediterranean Sea, strengthening maritime cooperation between the Indian and Italian navies.
During the visit, the two navies held professional interactions, cross-deck visits and cultural exchanges. The ship was also opened to visitors, attracting members of the Indian diaspora and local residents.
The commanding officer of INS Trishul called on the Italian Navy’s Fleet Commander, while the Indian crew visited Italian aircraft carrier ITS Cavour to exchange operational experiences.

India’s Ambassador to Italy Vani Rao and Italian Navy Fleet Commander Vice Admiral Aurelio De Carolis also visited INS Trishul and interacted with its crew.
They attended a cultural event hosted onboard, which was attended by Civitavecchia Mayor, senior Italian Navy and Coast Guard officials, defence representatives from 13 countries, civil dignitaries and members of the Indian diaspora.
The Indian Navy said the visit reflected the longstanding maritime partnership between India and Italy and provided an opportunity to strengthen professional ties and mutual understanding.
INS Trishul has since departed for the next phase of its operational deployment in the Mediterranean Sea.
