New Delhi: Congress Parliamentary Party chairperson Sonia Gandhi visited RJD president Lalu Prasad Yadav at his residence and enquired about his health. The meeting also brought back memories of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government’s tenure, Yadav said.
In a statement, the former Bihar chief minister recalled the welfare initiatives introduced during the UPA regime under the leadership of former prime minister Manmohan Singh. He said the government had implemented several schemes and laws aimed at benefiting youth, farmers, soldiers and the common people.

Yadav cited the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), the Right to Education Act (RTE) and the Right to Information Act (RTI), saying these measures helped empower citizens.
He also highlighted the UPA government’s contribution to Bihar’s development, claiming that more than ₹1.45 lakh crore was allocated to the state during Manmohan Singh’s tenure.
The meeting provided an opportunity to revisit the policies and initiatives undertaken during the UPA years, Yadav said.
