INDIA Bloc Holds ‘Public Impeachment’ Event Against CEC Gyanesh Kumar, Demands His Exit

New Delhi: The INDIA bloc on Saturday organised a public event targeting Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, with Congress general secretary K C Venugopal alleging electoral irregularities and demanding that the poll chief step down.

In a statement, Venugopal said former Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar presided over the event, while Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge moved a motion seeking Kumar’s impeachment.

He claimed that participants from across the country shared accounts of citizens allegedly being deprived of their constitutional right to vote. The opposition alliance raised the slogan “Vote Chor, Gaddi Chhod” during the programme.

Venugopal accused the CEC of presiding over serious irregularities in the electoral system and said he had no moral right to continue in office. He demanded his immediate resignation.

Describing the event as a precursor to a larger campaign, the Congress leader said the INDIA bloc’s proposed mega rally would be historic.

The allegations against the CEC were made by Venugopal on behalf of the opposition alliance.INDIA Bloc Holds ‘Public Impeachment’ Event Against CEC Gyanesh Kumar, Demands His Exit
