SKM Backs Anti-SIR Stir; Prakash Raj Welcomes Farmers’ Support

Bengaluru: Actor-activist Prakash Raj has welcomed the Samyukta Kisan Morcha’s (SKM) decision to support the campaign against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), saying the participation of farmer organisations would lend strength to the protest scheduled for October 23 in Karnataka.

Prakash Raj said the mobilisation was being organised in response to a call by the SKM. He said he had attended a meeting of around 200 organisations in Delhi, where he appealed to various groups to join the campaign.

Discussions at the meeting led several organisations to express support for the SKM’s decision, he said, adding that the coming together of farmers, Dalit groups and labour organisations sent a significant message of collective action.

Prakash Raj said organisations across the country were joining hands on the issue and that the participation of farmer groups would expand the reach of the anti-SIR movement.
