‘Will never forget your support’: Naidu thanks Karnataka for helping Andhra amid Cyclone Murasu

AMARAVATI: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday thanked his Karnataka counterpart and the people of the neighbouring state for extending timely assistance to Andhra Pradesh in dealing with the impact of Cyclone Murasu.

Naidu’s appreciation came in response to Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar’s announcement on social media platform X that teams from Karnataka were heading to Andhra Pradesh to assist with relief and rehabilitation operations in cyclone-affected areas.

Expressing gratitude for the support, Naidu said Karnataka had stood by Andhra Pradesh at a crucial time when assistance was urgently needed.

“Heartfelt thanks to the honourable Chief Minister of Karnataka, D.K. Shivakumar, and the people of Karnataka for standing in support of Andhra Pradesh during Cyclone Murasu. We will never forget the timely support you extended when we needed it the most,” Naidu posted on X.

The Karnataka teams are expected to support relief and restoration efforts in areas affected by the cyclone. Their assistance is particularly significant as the state government works to address damage to essential infrastructure and restore normalcy in the affected regions.

Andhra Pradesh has frequently sought assistance from neighbouring states to speed up rehabilitation work following major natural disasters, particularly cyclones that cause extensive damage to public infrastructure.

In an earlier instance, Telangana’s energy department personnel were deployed to help repair and restore damaged electricity infrastructure in Andhra Pradesh following a severe cyclone.

Restoring power supply and repairing damaged electrical networks remain among the key priorities in the aftermath of such disasters. Assistance from neighbouring states can help speed up these operations and reduce the burden on local resources.

Naidu’s public acknowledgement of Karnataka’s assistance highlights the importance of inter-state coordination during natural disasters. The support extended by Karnataka also reflects the role of cooperation between neighbouring states in ensuring faster relief and rehabilitation for affected communities.
